The JK205-JK253 is a plunger-actuated brake lamp switch for forklifts, with cross-reference to Z8740-JK205. Mounted on the brake pedal bracket, the spring-loaded plunger closes the brake light circuit when the pedal is depressed. A stuck plunger leaves brake lights on continuously, draining the battery within hours; a failed switch results in no brake lights — an OSHA 1910.178(q)(7) violation that can result in citations during workplace safety audits.
