The driving axle assembly is the complete drivetrain unit — a single bolt-in module that includes the axle housing, differential carrier with ring and pinion gears, axle shafts, wheel hub assemblies, and brake components, all factory-assembled and pre-adjusted. Installing a complete axle assembly replaces the entire drivetrain in one operation rather than rebuilding individual components, making it the fastest path to restoring a forklift after a major axle failure, collision, or during a complete rebuild. For IC forklifts, the assembly converts engine torque through the differential to the wheels; for electric forklifts, it converts motor torque from 48V-96V drive systems.

When to Replace a Complete Axle Assembly:
• Major collision damage to the axle housing → Bent or cracked housing compromises gear alignment. Complete assembly replacement is more cost-effective than housing + diff + axle rebuild
• Catastrophic differential failure with metal debris throughout the axle → Gear teeth fragments have circulated through the oil and damaged all bearings, seals, and gear surfaces. Complete replacement eliminates the risk of missed contamination
• Forklift rebuild or conversion to different configuration → Installing a complete factory axle assembly is faster, more reliable, and often cheaper in total labor than rebuilding the existing unit piece by piece
• Excessive wear across multiple components → When the differential, axle shafts, and hubs are all worn beyond service limits, the parts cost of individual replacement often exceeds the cost of a complete assembly
• Converting IC forklift to electric or vice versa → The entire drivetrain configuration changes. A complete axle assembly matched to the new power source is required
