Forklift Clutch Pressure Plate: Diaphragm & Coil Spring — ISUZU 4HF1 ISC572 XL0547Y, HELI 3-5T, 7 Product Lines

The clutch pressure plate — also called clutch cover assembly — is the spring-loaded clamping mechanism that bolts to the engine flywheel and squeezes the clutch disc against the flywheel to transmit engine torque to the transmission. When the clutch pedal is depressed, the release bearing pushes against the center of the pressure plate’s diaphragm spring (or against the release levers on a coil-spring design), which lifts the pressure plate face away from the clutch disc — releasing the clamping force and allowing the disc to spin freely, disconnecting the engine from the transmission. When the pedal is released, the diaphragm spring returns to its natural position and applies full clamping force through the disc to the flywheel. The pressure plate is the component that actually determines the clutch’s torque capacity: a pressure plate with insufficient clamping force (from a fatigued or overheated diaphragm spring) will allow the clutch to slip under load even with a brand-new clutch disc, because the disc needs a specific clamping force — typically 800-1,200 kg for a forklift clutch — to create enough friction to transmit engine torque without slipping. A pressure plate that has been overheated (from prolonged clutch slipping) permanently loses diaphragm spring tension because the spring steel has been heated above its tempering temperature — the metal’s crystal structure changes and the spring will never return to its original clamping force, even after cooling. Pressure plates must be matched to the flywheel by bolt pattern (number of bolts and bolt circle diameter) and by the overall assembly height (which determines the release bearing engagement point and clutch pedal free play).

Kingstream supplies 7 clutch pressure plate product lines covering ISUZU 4HF1 (300mm), 3-jaw universal, HELI 3-ton general-purpose, complete 3-piece sets (pressure plate + disc + bearing), and specific OEM numbers ISC572 and XL0547Y.

Universal & Custom Pressure Plates:
3-Jaw Universal (CLUTCH-3JAW-PP) — 3-jaw universal clutch pressure plate for forklifts and industrial vehicles. The 3-jaw (3 release lever) design is common on older mechanical clutch systems. Can be used with friction plates and separation bearings from multiple brands
Customizable Hot Sale (CLUTCH-PP-CUSTOM) — Customizable clutch pressure plate for trucks and forklifts. Hot sale market item for high-volume clutch replacement shops. Can be ordered to specific bolt pattern and clamping force specifications
3-Ton Universal (CLUTCH-PP-3T-GEN) — General-purpose clutch pressure plate for 3-ton forklifts. Compatible with multiple brands using the 3-ton pressure plate bolt pattern and diaphragm spring specification

When to Replace Pressure Plates:
• Clutch slips under load, especially when carrying a rated load up an incline → The diaphragm spring has lost clamping force from overheating. The pressure plate may look fine visually but the spring is permanently fatigued. Replace pressure plate and disc together
• Blue, purple, or rainbow-colored hot spots visible on the pressure plate friction surface → The pressure plate has been heated above 400°C from prolonged clutch slipping. The diaphragm spring has been annealed (softened) and will never provide design clamping force again. Replace
• Pressure plate friction surface has grooves, scoring, or visible cracks (heat-checking) → The surface is damaged and will not provide uniform clamping pressure across the disc face. If heat-checking is present, the flywheel surface is also likely damaged. Replace pressure plate and machine/replace flywheel
• Diaphragm spring fingers are worn where the release bearing contacts them — visible grooves or flats on the finger tips → The release bearing has been running dry or with excessive preload. The worn fingers alter the clutch engagement point and create an inconsistent pedal feel. Replace pressure plate and release bearing
• Pressure plate bolt holes are elongated or cracked → The pressure plate has been operating loose on the flywheel. The bolt holes cannot be repaired. Replace pressure plate and use new bolts with correct torque specification and thread locker
