Forklift Radiator: Aluminum & Copper-Brass Engine Cooling for Diesel & LPG Forklifts

A forklift radiator rejects engine heat to the surrounding air. When it clogs, leaks, or the fins corrode, the engine overheats within minutes under load — and a warped cylinder head or seized piston costs ten times the price of a replacement radiator. Kingstream stocks forklift radiators in aluminum and copper-brass construction for Toyota, Komatsu, HELI, Hangcha, TCM, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Linde diesel and LPG engines.

Aluminum vs Copper-Brass Radiators

Aluminum forklift radiators are the modern standard — they are lighter, less expensive, and offer excellent heat transfer with plastic or aluminum tanks. Most HELI, Hangcha, and newer Toyota forklifts use aluminum radiators as original equipment. Copper-brass radiators were used on older forklift models and are still preferred in some heavy-duty applications because they can be repaired — a leaking copper-brass core can be soldered, while a cracked aluminum core typically requires complete replacement. When ordering a replacement forklift radiator, match the core material to your original unless you are intentionally upgrading. Aluminum forklift cooling radiators with plastic tanks cannot be repaired if the tank cracks — the entire unit must be replaced.

Signs Your Radiator Needs Replacement

A failing forklift radiator produces these symptoms: the engine temperature gauge climbs above normal within minutes of starting work, indicating the radiator is not rejecting enough heat — this could be from external fin blockage, internal tube scaling, or a partially clogged core; coolant leaks visible at the tank-to-core seam or from pinholes in the core tubes, often appearing as green or orange staining on the radiator fins; the upper and lower radiator hoses feel equally hot with no temperature drop across the core, indicating zero heat rejection because the tubes are completely blocked; and in aluminum radiators with plastic tanks, cracks develop at the tank flange from thermal cycling, causing slow coolant loss that is hard to locate because it only leaks when hot and under pressure. A forklift engine radiator that cannot maintain normal operating temperature under load is a warning that the radiator needs attention before the engine does.

How to Order the Correct Radiator

When replacing a forklift radiator, verify the core dimensions — height, width, and thickness — as the radiator must fit within the mounting frame and the fan shroud. Check the inlet and outlet hose diameters and their positions — top inlet, bottom outlet is the standard configuration, but some forklifts use a cross-flow design with side-mounted hose connections. Confirm whether your forklift uses a manual or automatic transmission — automatic transmission radiators include an internal transmission fluid cooler loop with additional hose connections. Also verify the mounting bracket positions and the fan shroud bolt pattern. The most reliable method is to send us your original forklift water tank radiator part number or the forklift model and engine type.

Quality Control at Kingstream

Every forklift radiator we ship is pressure-tested before packing: the core and tanks are pressurized with air and submerged in a water tank to detect pinhole leaks — even a pinhole that weeps coolant will cause slow overheating that is difficult to diagnose; the core is flow-tested to confirm water passes freely through all tubes without blockage from manufacturing debris or solder overflow; the mounting brackets and fan shroud bolt holes are checked against OEM drawings for correct positioning; and the radiator cap seat and overflow nipple are inspected for proper fit. You receive a forklift replacement radiator that bolts in, seals properly, and cools the engine from the first run — not a radiator with a blocked core that causes intermittent overheating only under heavy load.
