A forklift mast roller is a sealed or shielded bearing assembly that guides the fork carriage along the mast channels during lifting and lowering operations. Mast rollers serve two distinct functions: main rollers carry the full vertical load of the carriage and payload, rolling within the inner mast channel; side rollers (also called side thrust rollers) absorb lateral forces and prevent the carriage from shifting sideways within the mast. A worn, seized, or noisy mast roller creates uneven carriage travel, accelerated mast channel wear, and in severe cases can cause the carriage to bind or jerk during lift operation — creating a safety hazard when handling elevated loads. Mast rollers are typically grease-packed sealed bearings with specific outer diameters, bore sizes, and widths matched to the mast channel profile of each forklift model.
