The clutch assembly is the complete clutch system that connects and disconnects engine power from the transmission — it consists of three main components that must work together as a system: the clutch disc (the friction plate that transmits torque when clamped), the pressure plate (the spring-loaded clamping mechanism that squeezes the disc against the flywheel), and the release bearing (the bearing that pushes against the pressure plate diaphragm spring to disengage the clutch). These three components wear together — replacing only the disc when the pressure plate’s diaphragm spring fingers are worn or the release bearing is noisy guarantees premature failure because the new disc is forced to work against worn mating surfaces and a release bearing that will fail before the new disc wears out. A complete clutch assembly replacement set (disc + pressure plate + release bearing) is always recommended over individual component replacement. The assembly must be matched to the flywheel by three dimensions: the pressure plate bolt pattern (bolt circle diameter and number of bolts), the clutch disc spline count and diameter (matching the transmission input shaft), and the overall assembly height (which determines the release bearing engagement point). Installing a clutch assembly with the wrong pressure plate bolt pattern means it cannot be bolted to the flywheel at all. Installing one with correct pattern but wrong spline count means the transmission cannot be reconnected to the engine. • JY323 Dalian 5-8T (JY323) — Transmission clutch assembly for Dalian forklifts in the 5-8 ton class. JY323 designation is specific to Dalian heavy forklift transmission models. Designed for the high torque loads of large-displacement diesel engines in 5-8 ton counterbalanced forklifts

When to Replace Clutch Assemblies:
• Clutch slips under load — engine RPM rises but forklift doesn’t move proportionally → The disc friction material is worn out, or the pressure plate diaphragm spring has lost clamping force from heat fatigue. Replace the complete assembly
• Clutch pedal feels different — engages at the very top of pedal travel (worn disc), very bottom (pressure plate problem), or feels gritty/pulsing (release bearing failure) → One or more components are failing. Replacing only one component is false economy. Replace the complete assembly
• Noise when the clutch pedal is depressed — grinding, squealing, or chirping that stops when the pedal is released → The release bearing is failing. Because replacing the release bearing requires the same labor as replacing the complete assembly (transmission removal), replace the complete assembly
• Transmission has been removed for any other reason (engine rebuild, transmission rebuild, rear main seal replacement) → The clutch assembly is 100% accessible with zero additional labor. Replace the complete assembly regardless of apparent condition — the labor to do it later is the same as doing it now
• Clutch has been slipping for an extended period — the flywheel and pressure plate have been overheated → Overheated pressure plates lose their diaphragm spring tension permanently. The flywheel may have heat-checking (network of fine surface cracks). Replace the complete assembly and machine or replace the flywheel
