Forklift Pneumatic Tires: Air-Filled Tires & Inner Tubes — Rubber Inflatable, 650-10 to 600-9, 4 Product Lines
Forklift pneumatic tires are air-filled tires — the same fundamental design as car and truck tires but built for the extreme loads and demanding duty cycles of industrial material handling. A pneumatic tire uses compressed air (or nitrogen) sealed inside a rubber casing — either directly against the rim (tubeless) or contained within a separate inner tube (tube-type) — to provide the cushion of air that absorbs road irregularities, reduces vibration transmission to the forklift chassis, and provides the most comfortable operator experience of any forklift tire type. The air pressure (typically 650-1,000 kPa or 95-145 psi depending on the tire’s ply rating and load) supports the load — the tire casing simply contains the air and provides the tread that contacts the ground. The trade-off is vulnerability to punctures and pressure loss: a single nail, screw, or sharp metal fragment on the floor can deflate a pneumatic tire immediately, taking the forklift out of service. Pneumatic tires remain the standard choice for outdoor forklift operation on asphalt, gravel, and uneven surfaces where the cushioning benefit of the air chamber outweighs the puncture risk, and for applications where solid tires transmit unacceptable vibration to sensitive cargo (electronics, glass, food products).

Inner tubes are the air-tight rubber bladders installed inside tube-type tires — they hold the air pressure that supports the load. A tube failure (pinch flat, valve stem tear, or age-related cracking) causes the same immediate deflation as a tire puncture, so inner tubes should be replaced preventively whenever the outer tire is replaced.

The anti-friction compound reduces rolling resistance — important for IC forklifts where lower rolling resistance translates directly to fuel savings over thousands of operating hours. Durable tread compound designed for mixed-surface operation: concrete warehouse floors, asphalt yards, and gravel loading areas. CL621 tread pattern for all-position use (steer and drive axle compatible)
Inner Tubes:
• 600-9 Inner Tube (TUBE-600-9) — Industrial tyre tube for 600-9 pneumatic forklift tires. Standard butyl rubber construction for air retention. Designed for tube-type 600-9 tire systems. Always replace the inner tube when replacing the outer tire — a used tube has thin spots at the previous installation’s fold lines that will fail shortly after reinstallation

When to Replace Pneumatic Tires & Tubes:
• Tread worn to the wear bars (typically 2-3mm remaining tread depth) → The tire has lost its traction capability. Replace before wet-floor sliding becomes a safety hazard
• Visible puncture through the tread or sidewall that penetrates the casing → The tire casing is compromised. On tube-type tires, the tube may still hold air, but the damaged casing will eventually cut the tube. Replace tire and tube together
• Bulge or bubble in the sidewall — a visible deformation that expands when the tire is inflated → The casing plies have separated internally. This is a blowout waiting to happen. Replace immediately
• Inner tube has a slow leak that cannot be located — the tire loses more than 10% of its pressure per week despite no visible puncture → The tube has age-related micro-cracking or a leaking valve core. Replace the tube
• Inner tube has been pinched during installation — a “snake bite” puncture (two small holes side by side) on the tube → This is an installation error, not a road hazard puncture. The tube was pinched between the tire bead and rim during mounting. Replace tube and re-mount with partial inflation before final bead seating
• Tire sidewall is cracked from age or UV exposure (weather checking) → The rubber compound has degraded. Cracks allow moisture into the casing plies, which causes cord rust and ply separation. Replace tire
