Forklift Radiator Cap: 7-15 PSI Pressure Caps for Carrier & Diesel Engines
The radiator cap is the $5 seal that determines whether your cooling system holds pressure or boils over. A properly functioning cap raises the coolant’s boiling point by 3°C for every 1 PSI of system pressure, so a 13 PSI cap lets coolant reach 110°C before boiling — critical during heavy-load operation when engine temperatures peak. A failed cap that doesn’t hold rated pressure allows the coolant to boil at 100°C, causing overheating that is often misdiagnosed as a water pump or thermostat failure because the temperature gauge reads normal right up until the coolant boils and the gauge spikes.

Types of Radiator Caps:

The lower pressure rating is specified for refrigeration unit cooling systems that operate at lower temperatures than engine cooling systems.
0.9 Bar (13 PSI) Diesel Engine Cap — Standard pressure cap for diesel forklift engine radiators. Compatible with Toyota, HELI, and Komatsu diesel engines. The 0.9 bar rating matches the pressure specification for most 2-5 ton diesel forklift cooling systems.
When to Replace Your Radiator Cap:
• Coolant boils or overflows at normal operating temperature → The pressure valve isn’t holding rated pressure. Replace cap and pressure-test the new one.
• Upper radiator hose collapses when the engine cools down → The vacuum valve has failed. Coolant can’t return from the overflow tank.
• Rubber seal is cracked, flattened, or hardened → Visual inspection shows seal degradation. Replace.
• Rust or scale on the spring or valve seat → The valve may stick open or closed. Replace cap and flush the cooling system.
• Preventive replacement every 2 years → Radiator caps are consumable wear items.
