Forklift Charger Connector: 2-Pin Triangular, SMH, REMA & IP67 High-Power Charging Plugs

The charger connector is the physical interface between the forklift battery and the charger — a failed connector means the forklift can’t charge, and a forklift that can’t charge is dead weight on the warehouse floor. Charger connectors carry 50 to 350 amps of DC current during multi-hour charging cycles, and any increase in contact resistance — from corrosion, pitting, or loose connections — generates heat that melts the connector housing, damages the charger, and creates a fire hazard. Silver-plated copper contacts minimize this resistance compared to tin or unplated alternatives.

Kingstream supplies charger connectors in triangular 2-pin, SMH 175A, REMA 350A, and universal high-power configurations for HELI, Toyota, Komatsu, BYD, and Hyster electric forklifts.

Types of Charger Connectors:

Triangular 2-Pin Connector — Keyed triangular design prevents reverse-polarity connection. 600VDC rating with silver-plated copper contacts. Standard on small-to-medium electric forklifts and pallet trucks with single-phase chargers.

SMH 175A Connector — Male/female battery connector rated 600VDC at 175A continuous. The SMH series is the most common connector type on mid-size electric forklifts in North America and Asia. Durable housing with secure locking mechanism.

REMA 350A Connector — Industrial-grade acid-resistant connector rated 350A at 150V. REMA connectors are the European standard for forklift charging, featuring heavy-duty contacts and an acid-resistant housing for battery compartment environments where electrolyte mist corrodes standard connectors.

High-Power IP67 Connector (50A-350A) — Multi-current connector available in 50A, 120A, 175A, and 350A ratings with 660VDC and IP67 waterproof rating. PC housing with silver-plated male/female contacts. Dust-tight and water-immersion rated for outdoor and washdown environments.

When to Replace Charger Connectors:

Connector housing is melted, cracked, or shows heat discoloration → Contact resistance has been generating excessive heat. Replace the connector pair (male + female) — not just one side
Contacts are pitted, blackened, or show visible arcing damage → Silver plating has been burned through. Replace both connector halves
Connector feels loose — doesn’t click or lock securely into place → The locking mechanism or contact springs have fatigued. A loose connection arcs during charging and damages both connector and charger
Connector gets hot during charging — warm to the touch is normal, hot is not → Measure voltage drop across the connector under load. More than 0.1V drop at rated current indicates high resistance
Acid corrosion visible on contacts or housing (white/green powder) → Battery electrolyte has attacked the connector. Replace with acid-resistant REMA-style connector
