The torque converter housing — also called the converter case or bellhousing — is the cast iron structural component that bolts the forklift engine block to the powershift transmission. It encloses the torque converter assembly, carries the full drivetrain torque load through its mounting bolts, and maintains the critical alignment between the crankshaft centerline and the transmission input shaft. When a housing cracks at a mounting boss, develops dowel pin bore wear, or has stripped threads at the starter or cooler line ports, the converter loses alignment — the result is pump bushing failure, input seal leakage, and complete transmission damage within operating hours. • Transmission fluid leak at the bellhousing-to-engine mating surface → Warped mounting face or failed gasket; housing must be surfaced or replaced
• Starter motor bolts keep loosening or threads are stripped → Cracked or stripped starter mounting boss; cannot be reliably repaired
• Vibration felt through the chassis that changes with engine RPM → Converter misalignment from worn dowel pin bores or cracked housing
