Forklift Water Pipe: Silicone Radiator Hoses & Coolant Lines for Diesel Engines
Water pipes (coolant hoses) route pressurized coolant between the engine, radiator, heater core, and water pump at temperatures up to 110°C. A swollen, cracked, or burst water pipe dumps the entire coolant charge in under 30 seconds — faster than any temperature gauge can warn the operator. The most common failure point is the upper radiator hose, which sees the hottest coolant directly from the engine outlet. A $15 silicone radiator hose replacement prevents a $2,000 engine rebuild from catastrophic overheating.

Types of Water Pipes:

OEM Engine Coolant Hose — Pre-formed coolant hoses matching specific engine routing. Part number 11537521049 for BMW N52 X3 engines — used in industrial applications where these engines power material handling equipment.
When to Replace Water Pipes:
• Hose is swollen, soft, or feels spongy when squeezed → Internal rubber has degraded from oil contamination or heat aging. Replace before it bursts under pressure.
• Visible cracks, splits, or bulges on the outer surface → The hose wall is structurally compromised. Replace immediately.
• Coolant leaking at the hose clamp connection → The hose end has hardened and no longer seals. Tightening the clamp further may crush the hardened rubber. Replace the hose.
• Hose collapsed or flattened when the engine cools down → The hose has lost its structural integrity. Internal vacuum during cooldown is collapsing it. Replace.
• Hose is older than 4 years and shows any surface cracking → Preventive replacement. Radiator hoses are consumable maintenance items.
