Forklift Exhaust Pipe: Rigid Pipes, Flexible Connections, Silencers & Stainless Steel Systems

The exhaust pipe routes high-temperature diesel exhaust gases from the engine manifold to the muffler and ultimately out of the forklift. A cracked or rusted exhaust pipe doesn’t just make the forklift loud — it leaks carbon monoxide into the operator cabin, increases engine bay temperatures that cook nearby hoses and wiring, and alters exhaust backpressure, causing the engine to run inefficiently with increased fuel consumption. Exhaust system failure is one of the most commonly overlooked maintenance items on IC forklifts because the damage accumulates slowly until a sudden crack or separation disables the machine.

Types of Exhaust Components:

Rigid Exhaust Pipe — Direct-fit replacement pipes matching OEM routing, flange angles, and mounting brackets. The K9FP2-30201 is the OEM replacement for HELI CPCD30 and XC25K2 diesel forklifts. The 4100 diesel cast iron exhaust pipe provides superior heat resistance for loader and industrial forklift applications.

Flexible Soft Connection — Bellows-type flexible joint installed between the manifold and rigid pipe to absorb engine vibration. Without this component, engine rocking during acceleration cracks the rigid exhaust connection at the manifold flange. The RLJ-PQG(42) fits HELI 2-3T diesel forklifts.

Exhaust Silencer / Muffler — Noise-reduction component that also manages exhaust backpressure. Available in standard steel and premium stainless steel (black finish) for corrosion-resistant outdoor and cold storage applications.

Aftermarket Stainless Steel System — Complete stainless steel exhaust silencer system with black finish. Corrosion-resistant for forklifts operating in coastal, cold storage, and outdoor environments. Universal aftermarket fitment across multiple brands.

When to Replace Exhaust Components:

• Visible rust holes, cracks, or perforations anywhere on the pipe → Exhaust gases leaking; carbon monoxide hazard. Replace immediately.
• Black soot visible around flange connections or weld seams → Gasket or weld has failed. Replace gasket and inspect pipe flange for warping.
• Loud exhaust noise that has progressively worsened → Internal baffle or pipe wall has perforated. Replace the affected section.
• Flexible bellows is torn or separated → Engine vibration is no longer being absorbed. Replace soft connection before the rigid pipe cracks.
• Pipe is rusted through at the lowest point (condensation trap) → Water condensation pools at the lowest bend. Replace and consider a drain hole mod for the new pipe.
