Forklift Fork Carriage: The Mast-Mounted Platform for Forks, Attachments & Load Positioning
The fork carriage is the structural steel frame that mounts to the forklift mast roller assembly and provides the carriage bar on which fork tines are positioned and locked. As the load-bearing interface between the mast lifting mechanism and the payload, the carriage directly transfers all lifting, tilting, and side-shifting forces to the forks and load. Fork carriages are available in fixed, hinged (articulating), hydraulic tilting, and side-shift configurations — each designed for specific operational needs: fixed carriages for standard pallet handling, hinged carriages for uneven-ground load engagement, tilting carriages for precise fork angle control, and side-shift carriages for lateral fork positioning without forklift repositioning. A bent, cracked, or excessively worn carriage compromises fork alignment, accelerates mast roller and carriage bar wear, and creates dangerous asymmetric load conditions.
Kingstream supplies forklift fork carriages for 15+ brands including Toyota, Komatsu, HELI, CAT, Mitsubishi, Hangcha, Yale, and Linde — covering 2-ton through 6-ton counterbalance forklifts in ITA Class II, III, and IV mounting configurations. Our range includes OEM-spec HELI carriages (H2000, CPCD40), adjustable-width hinged carriages, hydraulic tilting carriages with 45° forward tilt, side-shift carriages with ±150mm lateral movement, and customizable stainless steel carriage bars for food, pharmaceutical, and chemical applications.
Carriage Types & Selection Guide:
• Fixed Carriage — Standard bolt-on platform for pallet handling. Simplest, lowest cost, most common replacement type.
• Hinged Carriage — Independent fork hinge articulation for uneven surfaces, construction sites, and irregular loads.
• Hydraulic Tilting Carriage — Powered fork angle control (up to 45° forward / 25° backward) for load cradling and precise stacking.
• Side Shift Carriage — ±100-150mm hydraulic lateral fork movement for fine positioning in narrow aisles and container loading.
• Brand-Specific OEM Carriage — Direct replacement for HELI H2000, CPCD40, and other models with factory bolt pattern and mast fitment.
When to Replace / Common Symptoms:
• Forks wobble or cannot be locked in position → Worn carriage bar or elongated locking pin notches
• Carriage frame shows visible crack at mast roller mounting point → Fatigue crack — replace immediately
• Fork tips are not parallel (one higher than the other) → Bent carriage frame or twisted bar
• Hydraulic tilt or side-shift drifts under load → Internal cylinder seal bypass requiring rebuild or replacement
• Carriage contacts mast channels or backrest during operation → Frame twist or incorrect bolt torque sequence from previous installation
