Installing the radiator on an automatic transmission forklift requires draining the engine coolant, disconnecting the upper and lower radiator hoses, disconnecting the automatic transmission cooler lines from the integrated oil cooler section of the radiator, removing the radiator mounting bolts, and lifting the old radiator out. The transmission cooler lines must be capped immediately after disconnection to prevent debris entry and fluid loss. Before installing the replacement, inspect the fan shroud for cracks, the rubber mounting isolators for compression set, and the transmission cooler line fittings for thread damage. Install the new radiator with the fan shroud properly aligned, reconnect all hoses and transmission cooler lines with new sealing washers if the original washers are deformed, refill the engine coolant and top off the automatic transmission fluid, run the engine until the thermostat opens, bleed trapped air from the cooling system, and verify no leaks at any connection — including the transmission cooler line fittings. Critically, after radiator replacement on an automatic transmission forklift, the transmission fluid level must be checked after the transmission reaches operating temperature because the oil cooler section has been drained during radiator replacement and the transmission pump must refill the cooler circuit before an accurate fluid level reading can be obtained.
