The half shaft transmits torque from the differential side gear to the drive wheel — one half shaft per wheel, left and right sides with different lengths. The inner end features a splined shaft that engages the differential side gear, while the outer end has a flange that bolts to the wheel hub. Full-floating design — the half shaft carries only torsional load, with the wheel hub supported by the axle housing bearings.
