3-SPOOL VALVE OPERATION: In a 3-spool hydraulic valve, each spool is a precision-ground cylindrical rod inside a bore in the valve body. When the operator moves a control lever, the corresponding spool shifts axially, opening oil passages that direct pressurized hydraulic fluid to the work ports of that specific cylinder or motor. The hydraulic oil returning from the opposite side of the cylinder flows back through the valve spool to the tank return passage. All three spools share a common pressure inlet from the hydraulic pump and a common tank return. The spools are spring-centered — when the operator releases the lever, the spool returns to neutral position, blocking all ports and holding the load in position with hydraulic lock. INSTALLATION: Step 1 — Lower all hydraulic functions and relieve system pressure. Step 2 — Disconnect and label the pressure inlet hose (P port), tank return hose (T port), and all six cylinder work port hoses (A1/B1, A2/B2, A3/B3). Step 3 — Disconnect the three control lever linkages or cables from the spool ends. Step 4 — Unbolt the valve from its mounting bracket. Step 5 — Install the new valve, ensuring proper orientation of the P and T ports.
