The crankshaft is manufactured from high-grade forged alloy steel (typically 40Cr or 42CrMo) through a multi-stage hot forging process that aligns the grain structure along the crank throws for maximum fatigue strength. After forging and rough machining, the journals undergo induction hardening to a depth of 2-4mm with a surface hardness of 50-55 HRC, providing the wear resistance required for the high-load, high-cycle operating conditions of forklift diesel engines where the crankshaft may rotate over 200 million times during its service life. Each main and connecting rod journal is then precision-ground to the specified diameter with a tolerance of +0/-0.015mm, a roundness of less than 0.005mm, and a surface finish of Ra 0.2μm or better. The oil drillings are chamfered and deburred to ensure unrestricted oil flow to each bearing, and the entire crankshaft is dynamically balanced to within 15g·cm to minimize vibration throughout the engine’s RPM range.
