Engine Crankshaft for 495-Series Forklift Diesel Engine
This crankshaft is a forged steel OEM-spec replacement for the 495-series 4-cylinder diesel engine widely used in 2-4 ton HELI, Hangcha, Lonking, and other domestic-brand internal combustion counterbalance forklifts. The 495 engine platform — sharing its 95mm cylinder bore designation with the XinChai, QuanChai, and Jiangling engine families — powers tens of thousands of Chinese-manufactured forklifts currently in service worldwide. As the engine’s primary rotating assembly, the crankshaft converts the reciprocating motion of four pistons and connecting rods into smooth rotational torque through five main bearing journals, delivering power to the flywheel, transmission, drive axle, and ultimately the front wheels. A crankshaft that has suffered journal scoring, bearing spin damage, or fatigue cracking will produce progressively worsening symptoms: low oil pressure at idle (below 1.0 bar hot), metallic knocking that increases with engine RPM, visible vibration at the crankshaft pulley, and eventually seizure or catastrophic block damage if the failure propagates to the connecting rods.
The crankshaft is manufactured from high-grade forged alloy steel (42CrMo or equivalent) through a multi-stage hot forging process that orients the grain flow along each crank throw for maximum fatigue resistance at the highly stressed fillet radii between journals and webs. After forging, the journals are induction-hardened to a case depth of 2-4mm with a surface hardness of 50-55 HRC, providing the wear resistance necessary for the boundary and mixed-film lubrication conditions that occur during cold starts and low-speed, high-load forklift operation. Each main and connecting rod journal is precision-ground to final dimensions with tolerances of +0/-0.015mm and a surface finish of Ra 0.2μm, then micro-polished to remove grinding directionality that could cause premature bearing wear. The oil galleries are drilled, chamfered, and deburred to ensure unrestricted oil delivery from the main bearings to the connecting rod bearings. After machining, the crankshaft undergoes dynamic balancing to within 15g·cm correction, minimizing engine vibration and extending main bearing life.
