The inner tube is the airtight rubber bladder installed inside a pneumatic tire that holds compressed air to support the forklift load — it maintains tire pressure and provides the cushioning air volume that absorbs road shock and vibration. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Remove the wheel assembly and completely deflate the tire. Step 2 — Break both tire beads from the rim. Step 3 — Remove the old tire from the rim and extract the old inner tube and rim flap. Step 4 — Inspect the inside of the tire for foreign objects, embedded debris, or tire casing damage that could puncture the new tube. Step 5 — Inspect the rim strip or flap — replace if cracked, worn, or brittle. Step 6 — Lightly dust the new inner tube with talcum powder to prevent the tube from sticking to the tire casing and allow it to slide into position during inflation. Step 7 — Insert the new tube into the tire, aligning the valve stem with the rim valve hole. Step 8 — Partially inflate the tube until it takes its shape but is still soft. Step 9 — Mount the tire onto the rim, starting at the valve stem side. Use tire mounting lubricant on the bead only — never on the tube. Step 10 — Pull the valve stem through the rim hole and secure with the valve stem nut. Step 11 — Inflate to the recommended pressure. Always use a tire cage or safety chains during initial inflation. SYMPTOMS OF INNER TUBE FAILURE: Slow air leak requiring frequent pressure top-ups, sudden complete pressure loss from a blowout, visible cracking or brittleness of the rubber tube, valve stem damage or leakage at the valve base, and pinched tube from improper installation causing a split.
