Linde Forklift Tapered Roller Bearing — OEM 0009247360 for Models 351/1219/1220/1283

This is an OEM tapered roller bearing (part number 0009247360) for Linde forklift models 351, 1219, 1220, and 1283. Tapered roller bearings are designed to handle combined radial and axial (thrust) loads simultaneously — the conical geometry of the rollers and raceways converts a portion of the radial load into a thrust component that is absorbed by the bearing’s integral thrust rib. In a Linde forklift drivetrain, this bearing is typically installed in the differential carrier or wheel hub assembly where it must support the weight of the forklift (radial load) while simultaneously resisting the side-thrust forces generated during cornering and the axial loads from the drive axle during acceleration and braking. The bearing consists of four components: the inner race (cone) with the rollers and cage, and the outer race (cup) — these are a matched set manufactured to ABEC-1 precision tolerances and must always be replaced as a complete assembly, never mixing cones and cups from different sets.

Installing a tapered roller bearing requires precise preload or end-play adjustment — this is the most critical aspect of the installation and the most common cause of premature bearing failure. The bearing must be set to a slight preload of 0.01-0.03mm for wheel hub applications, or an end-play of 0.05-0.10mm for differential carrier applications, depending on the specific installation location in the Linde drivetrain. Setting preload too tight (beyond 0.05mm) causes the rollers to skid rather than roll on the raceways, generating excessive heat that breaks down the bearing grease and causes the race surfaces to spall within the first 200 hours of operation. Setting preload too loose (more than 0.10mm end-play) allows the rollers to hammer against the raceways during load reversals (forward-to-reverse directional changes), causing brinelling (impact indentation) of the race surfaces. The bearing must be packed with a lithium-complex NLGI #2 grease with extreme-pressure (EP) additives before installation — installing a dry bearing, even for a test fit, will score the roller surfaces on the first rotation. Common failure symptoms: a low-pitched rumbling noise from the drive axle that increases in pitch with forklift speed (race spalling), metallic particles in the differential oil with a flake-like appearance (bearing cage fragmentation), and excessive axle shaft end-play of more than 0.5mm (bearing end-play from incorrect preload setting).

This bearing fits Linde forklift models 351, 1219, 1220, and 1283. Verify OEM number 0009247360 and the bearing dimensions (ID, OD, width) before ordering. For related drivetrain components, visit our Forklift Bearing section.
