The EX965 galvanized forklift extension forks are 96-inch (2.44-meter) heavy-duty steel fork sleeves designed to slide over existing forklift forks, extending the reach and load-carrying surface for handling oversized pallets, long pipes, lumber bundles, and irregularly shaped loads that standard forks cannot safely support. Constructed from 6mm or 8mm thick high-strength structural-grade steel plate, these extension forks are engineered for demanding daily use in logistics centers, lumber yards, and manufacturing plants. The bottom-open channel design allows quick slide-on installation without removing the original forks, while the welded steel snap ring at the heel end secures the extension in position and prevents forward sliding during load release. Sold as a pair, both fork extensions are galvanized or available with optional powder coating for rust and corrosion resistance in outdoor yards and marine terminal applications. Extending forks without proper sleeve extensions creates a dangerous cantilever condition — the EX965 eliminates this by distributing the bending moment across the full length of the original fork plus the extension, provided the forklift rated capacity is derated according to the extended load center. Always calculate the new load center and de-rated capacity before using fork extensions, as the extended reach reduces effective lifting capacity proportionally.

Installing fork extension sleeves requires measuring the existing fork cross-section — the EX965 is designed for standard 5-inch wide forks, but fork thickness (typically 40mm to 50mm) must be confirmed for proper sleeve fit. The open-bottom channel design means no tools are required for installation: simply slide the extension over each fork until the heel of the sleeve contacts the fork carriage face. The welded steel snap ring locks onto the fork heel, preventing the sleeve from creeping forward during load handling. Before each shift, inspect the snap ring and weld for deformation or cracking — a failed retaining ring allows the sleeve to slide forward, creating a dangerous unbalanced load condition. When not in use, remove the extensions and store them flat to prevent warping of the sleeve channel. The most common operational hazards with fork extensions are overloading beyond the derated capacity, using extensions on forks that are already bent or cracked, and failing to check the retaining mechanism before each use. A fork extension that shifts during a lift can cause the entire load to slide backward off the forks, striking the mast or operator compartment.
