This forklift exhaust silencer tail pipe is a direct-fit replacement exhaust silencer for 3-ton diesel forklifts and loaders. The silencer combines a reactive muffler section with an extended tail pipe — reducing exhaust noise to compliant levels while routing hot exhaust gases away from the engine compartment and operator area. The tail pipe section experiences the most severe corrosion in the exhaust system because it operates at a lower temperature than the main muffler body, allowing acidic exhaust condensate from diesel combustion (containing sulfuric and nitric acid) to collect and pool inside the pipe rather than evaporating during engine warm-up. This dual corrosion attack — internal from acidic condensate and external from rain, washdown water, and road spray — makes tail pipe replacement the most common exhaust system repair on diesel forklifts and loaders operating in outdoor construction, port, and agricultural environments. Installing the 3-ton exhaust silencer tail pipe requires removing the old unit from the muffler outlet and the chassis mounting brackets. The mounting brackets must be inspected before reuse — vibration-fatigued brackets with hairline cracks will fail shortly after a new tail pipe is installed, dropping the pipe onto the forklift chassis or ground during operation. After installation, verify the pipe has minimum 25mm clearance from all hoses, wiring, and chassis components along its entire length — exhaust pipes expand when hot and a pipe that clears when cold may contact adjacent components at operating temperature, potentially burning through hydraulic hoses or wiring insulation. Replace the exhaust clamp if rusted and verify no exhaust leaks at the connection point after starting the engine.
