STEERING CYLINDER FUNCTION: The steering cylinder is the hydraulic actuator that converts pressurized oil from the steering orbitrol into the linear motion that turns the forklift rear wheels. On the Heli K30/H2000 platform, the steering cylinder mounts transversely on the rear axle or chassis and connects to the steering linkage via a ball joint at the rod end. When the operator turns the steering wheel, the orbitrol meters oil to the cylinder, extending or retracting the rod to push or pull the steering linkage. This fully hydraulic system eliminates the need for a mechanical steering box or rack and pinion, providing smooth and effortless steering even at low engine speeds.
