Installing the SMH 175A battery connector requires stripping the battery cable insulation, crimping the connector contacts onto the cable conductors using a hydraulic crimping tool rated for the cable gauge, inserting the crimped contacts into the connector housing until they click into place, and mating the male and female connector halves. The SMH connector is polarized — the contacts are keyed so the connector can only be mated in the correct orientation, preventing reverse polarity connection that would damage the forklift electronics.
