INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Drain the engine oil and coolant. Remove the radiator, fan, and front engine accessories to access the timing cover. Step 2 — Remove the valve cover and loosen all rocker arm adjusting screws to release valve spring tension on the pushrods. Step 3 — Remove the rocker arm shaft assembly and extract all pushrods, keeping them in order for reinstallation in the same position. Step 4 — Remove the lifters through the pushrod holes using a lifter removal tool. Step 5 — Remove the timing cover and timing gears. Mark the timing gear alignment before removal. Step 6 — Carefully withdraw the old camshaft from the engine block, rotating it slowly to avoid damaging the cam bearings. Step 7 — Inspect all camshaft bearings for scoring, pitting, or excessive clearance. Replace bearings if any damage is found. Step 8 — Apply generous engine assembly lube to all camshaft lobes and bearing journals. Step 9 — Carefully insert the new camshaft, rotating slowly to avoid bearing damage.
