This forklift hinge model PFT-1 is a heavy duty steel zinc plated body panel hinge designed for forklift hood, cover, and access door applications. Manufactured through precision stamping processes with exact dimension control and 100% quality inspection, this hinge is available in carbon steel with zinc plating for corrosion resistance or stainless steel for maximum durability in harsh environments. The zinc plating provides a sacrificial protective layer that prevents rust — critical for forklift hinges exposed to rain, washdown water, and high-humidity operating conditions where untreated steel would corrode and seize within months. The heavy duty construction withstands the repeated pivoting loads of hood and access panel operation plus the constant vibration of diesel engine operation. Material certified to ASTM, AISI, ASME, SAE, DIN EN, ISO, and BS EN standards. Surface treatment options include cold/hot zinc plating, blackening treatment, nickel plating, chrome plating, and anti-rust coatings. Installing the PFT-1 heavy duty hinge requires bolting the hinge leaves to the body panel and chassis mounting surfaces. The zinc plated surface must not be scratched through to bare steel during installation — damaged plating creates a corrosion initiation point that will spread under the plating. For forklifts operating in coastal, chemical processing, or food processing environments where salt, acids, or frequent washdowns accelerate corrosion, stainless steel construction should be selected over zinc plated carbon steel. For existing carbon steel hinges showing early rust, cleaning and applying anti-rust coating can extend service life before replacement becomes necessary.
