INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Remove the transmission from the forklift. Step 2 — Separate the torque converter from the transmission input shaft — note the converter may be bolted to the engine flywheel or the transmission depending on the forklift design. Step 3 — Drain the torque converter of transmission fluid. Step 4 — Inspect the flywheel flex plate for cracks or warping — replace if damaged. Step 5 — Inspect the transmission input shaft seal — replace while the converter is removed. Step 6 — Fill the new torque converter with clean automatic transmission fluid before installation — this prevents dry startup damage. Step 7 — Align the converter hub with the transmission input shaft and pump drive. The converter should seat fully with a distinct “double-click” as it engages the pump drive and input shaft splines. Step 8 — Measure the distance from the converter mounting pads to the bell housing face — compare to specification to verify full seating.
