INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan. Step 2 — Remove the oil pump pickup tube and screen assembly. Step 3 — Unbolt the old oil pump from the engine block. Step 4 — Clean the mounting surface thoroughly and inspect the pump drive gear for wear. Step 5 — Prime the new oil pump by filling the pump cavity with clean engine oil — this ensures immediate oil pressure on startup and prevents dry running damage. Step 6 — Install the new pump with a new gasket, torquing bolts to specification. Step 7 — Reinstall the pickup tube with a new O-ring seal to prevent air leaks. Step 8 — Reinstall the oil pan with a new gasket. Step 9 — Refill with correct grade and quantity of engine oil.
