This radiator water tank cover (pressure cap) seals the radiator filler neck and maintains the cooling system’s rated pressure — typically 0.9 bar (13 PSI) on most forklift cooling systems. The pressure cap raises the coolant’s boiling point by approximately 3°C for every 1 PSI above atmospheric pressure, preventing coolant boil-over during heavy-load operation when engine temperatures peak. A failed cap that doesn’t hold pressure allows the coolant to boil at 100°C instead of the system’s designed 110-115°C, causing overheating even when the radiator, water pump, and thermostat are all functioning correctly.
