Long Lasting Hinged Fork — Steel Tilting Forklift Attachment for Uneven Ground Loading
The long-lasting hinged fork is a heavy-duty steel tilting forklift attachment designed for Chinese-manufactured diesel counterbalance forklifts operating in environments where pallet loading and unloading occurs on unpaved, sloped, or uneven ground surfaces — demolition sites, scrap metal yards, agricultural feed stores, lumber yards, and outdoor construction material depots. The fundamental engineering challenge in these environments is that the mast tilt mechanism on standard forklifts provides approximately 6 degrees of forward tilt and 12 degrees of rearward tilt relative to the chassis, but when the forklift itself is parked on a 5-degree grade, the effective forward tilt of the fork tips relative to true horizontal can be as little as 1 degree — insufficient to slide the forks into a pallet resting flush on the ground. The hinged fork attachment bridges this gap by adding an independent 12-15 degrees of fork carriage tilt beyond the mast tilt range, enabling the operator to align the fork tips parallel to the pallet entry plane regardless of the angle at which the forklift is parked.
This attachment is fabricated from Q345B structural steel plate — the Chinese standard equivalent to ASTM A572 Grade 50 — with a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa and excellent low-temperature toughness down to -20°C, making it suitable for cold-storage yard operations where standard carbon steel becomes brittle and susceptible to crack propagation. Every load-bearing weld is a full-penetration groove weld — not the cheaper fillet welds found on economy attachments that concentrate stress at the weld root and fail catastrophically under impact loading when the fork tips strike a pallet stringer at speed. The hinge mechanism uses a 35mm diameter induction-hardened 40Cr steel pivot pin rotating in replaceable ZCuSn10Pb10 tin-bronze bushings, a bearing material selected specifically for its ability to operate under high unit pressure with minimal lubrication in dusty environments. Two M8 grease fittings at each pivot allow the operator to purge the bushing clearance of abrasive dust during the daily greasing routine.
Universal Class II (ITA Class 2) mounting interface with 40mm-50mm carriage bar hooks and spring-loaded locking pins. Installation requires no tools beyond a hammer and takes approximately 5 minutes per side. Compatible with all Chinese-manufactured 2T-3.5T forklifts including HELI, Hangcha, Lonking, and Dalian, as well as Japanese and European brands Toyota, Komatsu, Linde, and TCM using Class II carriages. Each hinged fork attachment ships with Grade 8.8 locking pins, retaining clips, and a tube of extreme-pressure lithium grease for initial bushing priming. Before first use, pump grease into both fittings until clean grease extrudes from the bushing seal faces — approximately 15-20 pumps from a standard grease gun. Perform this greasing procedure daily in high-dust environments and weekly in clean warehouse environments. During pre-operation inspection, visually confirm both locking pins are fully seated with retaining clips engaged, and verify smooth fork articulation through the full tilt range by cycling the mast tilt cylinder while observing the hinged fork pivot for binding or uneven movement — binding indicates a bent pivot pin that must be replaced immediately to prevent sudden fracture under load. Never exceed the host forklift data plate capacity when using the hinged fork attachment; the attachment adds approximately 45-60 kg of tare weight to the carriage, which must be subtracted from the net lifting capacity.
