Clutch Friction Disc Plate for 3-3.5 Ton Automatic Forklift Transmission

This friction disc plate is a wet-type clutch pack plate for automatic (powershift) transmissions on 3-3.5 ton forklifts. It operates submerged in ATF at 80-100°C, alternating between compression against steel separator plates when engaged and spinning freely when released. The friction material uses a cellulose-resin compound with sintered copper particles for higher thermal conductivity than 1-2 ton plates — critical for the 3.5T torque loads. Always measure steel separators for thickness when replacing friction plates; worn separators cause the rebuild to slip immediately.

The most frequent cause of repeat transmission failure after a friction plate replacement is neglected separator plate inspection. Steel separators wear 0.05-0.1mm per friction plate set, and when the combined clearance across the pack exceeds piston stroke, the clutch never fully engages. Measure all separators with a micrometer — any below minimum thickness must be replaced.
