Tighten to 18-22 N·m (hand-tight plus 3/4 turn). The 490B engine is particularly sensitive to oil filter drain-back during shutdown — if the anti-drainback valve fails, the filter will be empty at the next cold start, causing a 4-6 second delay in oil pressure buildup that manifests as a pronounced “hammering” noise from the valve train until the hydraulic lifters refill. Common failure symptoms: valve train ticking noise for 3-5 seconds after cold start (failed anti-drainback valve), oil pressure gauge reading 0.2-0.3 bar lower than normal at hot idle (filter media restriction), and oil seepage from the filter base gasket (over-tightened or double-gasketed).
