A forklift hydraulic clutch assembly is the multi-plate wet clutch pack inside a powershift transmission that engages forward or reverse drive when hydraulic pressure compresses the friction and steel plates together. Replace clutch packs at the first sign of slipping in forward or reverse. Always replace the transmission filter and flush the cooler lines when replacing clutch packs. Check the clutch piston seals — leaking piston seals cause the same slipping symptoms as worn friction plates.
