9688211 Clutch Release Bearing Base — Manual Clutch Carrier for 2-3.5T Forklifts
This is the 9688211 clutch release bearing base (carrier) — the cast component that slides onto the transmission input shaft sleeve and holds the release bearing in precise alignment against the clutch diaphragm spring fingers. This is specifically the base for manual (mechanical linkage) clutch systems using the 9688211-series release bearing, as distinct from the hydraulic slave cylinder pistons that actuate the release fork on automatic models. In a manual clutch system, the release fork — actuated by a mechanical linkage or cable from the clutch pedal — pushes directly against this base, which transfers the force to the release bearing face to disengage the clutch. The base must slide smoothly on the input shaft sleeve under spring return force, must hold the bearing squarely against the diaphragm fingers without angular play, and must withstand the repeated impact loading of the release fork striking it during every clutch cycle.
The most common failure specific to the 9688211 base — and the reason it should always be inspected whenever the release bearing is replaced — is fork contact pad wear. The release fork pushes against two raised contact pads on either side of the base, and these pads wear into a concave depression over time. Once the depression depth exceeds approximately 0.5mm, the fork no longer pushes the base straight along the shaft sleeve — it pushes at a slight angle because one side of the fork tip seats deeper into the worn pad than the other. This angular force cocks the base on the sleeve, tilts the release bearing face relative to the diaphragm fingers, and causes the same rapid finger wear and bearing squeal that mechanics typically attribute to a “bad bearing” — when in fact the new bearing fails within weeks because the worn base is pushing it crooked from the moment of installation. The second inspection point is the shaft sleeve bore: if the bore diameter exceeds the sleeve OD by more than 0.15mm, the base will rock during fork actuation regardless of pad condition.
Direct fit for manual-clutch forklifts using the 9688211 bearing base specification — Heli CPCD20-CPCD35, Hangcha CPCD20-CPCD35, TCM FD20-FD35, Toyota 7FD/7FG 20-35, and Komatsu FD/FG 20-35 with mechanical/cable clutch linkage. Always inspect the fork contact pads and sleeve bore clearance before reusing an existing base. Replace the release bearing simultaneously. Apply a light coat of high-temperature grease to the input shaft sleeve before installing. For the matching 9688211RS release bearing, browse our transmission parts category.
