This SGP1A series hydraulic gear pump (model SGP1A25) is a single-stage positive-displacement gear pump used in forklift hydraulic systems to pressurize hydraulic oil for mast lift cylinders, tilt cylinders, side shift, and attachment functions. The gear pump is the most common hydraulic pump type in material handling equipment — two meshed gears rotate inside a precision housing, trapping oil between the gear teeth and the housing wall and forcing it out under pressure. Unlike engine oil pumps that run continuously at flow rates sized for bearing lubrication, hydraulic gear pumps cycle on demand — they produce flow when a hydraulic function is activated and the pump loads against the system relief valve setting. At 50 bar (725 psi) operating pressure, this pump is sized for standard forklift hydraulic systems.
