Installing the 160×55mm 6-slot drive wheel requires pulling the old wheel straight off the drive hub pins — no bolts to remove, which significantly reduces wheel change time compared to bolt-pattern wheels. However, this speed advantage comes with an installation caveat: the 6-slot interface relies on a precise friction fit between the PU hub material and the metal drive pins, and a wheel that slides on too easily will develop rotational play within hours of operation as the slots wear larger. If the replacement wheel fits loosely on the drive pins, the drive hub pins may be worn undersize from years of service and should be replaced along with the wheel to ensure the interference fit required for zero-play torque transmission. Before installation, thoroughly clean the drive hub pins of old polyurethane debris, rust, and lubricant — the slot interface is designed for dry friction engagement, and any lubricant on the pins will cause the wheel to slip under high torque, generating heat that melts the PU hub material and permanently ruins the wheel. After sliding the wheel onto the pins, verify it is fully seated against the hub flange. Rotate the wheel by hand through a full revolution and verify no wobble or contact with brake components or chassis. For electric forklifts operating in cold storage environments, allow the new PU wheel to acclimate to operating temperature before full-load use — polyurethane becomes harder and less flexible at sub-zero temperatures, and immediately loading a cold-soaked wheel can cause the slot interface to crack under the concentrated stress of the drive pins.
