Forklift Flywheel Assembly 490B-13001 — Xinchai 490 / 495 / 498 Diesel Engine Flywheel for Heli & Hangcha Forklifts
This forklift flywheel assembly part number 490B-13001 (model XC490-495 / 4D29G31) is a Kingstream OEM flywheel for Xinchai 490, 495, and 498 series diesel engines in Heli and Hangcha 2.5-3.5 ton forklift trucks. The flywheel is the heavy cast iron disc bolted to the crankshaft flange at the rear of the engine — it serves three essential functions: 1) stores rotational kinetic energy to smooth out engine power pulses between combustion events for consistent crankshaft rotation, 2) provides the mounting surface for the clutch pressure plate and friction disc that transfers engine power to the transmission, and 3) carries the toothed ring gear that the starter motor engages to crank the engine. 10kg with 50×48×13cm packaging. Kingstream OEM for Heli and Hangcha forklift fleet operators.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Remove the transmission and clutch assembly from the engine. Step 2 — Mark the flywheel position relative to the crankshaft if reusing on the same engine — the flywheel may be balanced to a specific crankshaft position. Step 3 — Remove the flywheel bolts in a cross-pattern. Note that flywheel bolts are typically high-strength and may require impact tools for removal. Step 4 — Remove the old flywheel from the crankshaft — it is a precision fit on the crankshaft flange and may require gentle prying. Step 5 — Clean the crankshaft flange and flywheel mounting surface thoroughly. Inspect the crankshaft rear main seal for leakage — replace the seal now if any oil is present, as the flywheel must be removed to access the seal. Step 6 — Position the new flywheel onto the crankshaft flange, aligning the dowel pin or bolt pattern for correct orientation. Step 7 — Install new flywheel bolts with thread locking compound. Torque bolts to specification in a cross-pattern sequence. NEVER reuse old flywheel bolts — they are torque-to-yield fasteners. Step 8 — Check flywheel runout with a dial indicator — maximum runout should be within the engine manufacturer specification. Step 9 — Inspect the ring gear teeth for damage. Replace the ring gear if worn. Step 10 — Reinstall the clutch assembly with a clutch alignment tool to center the friction disc. Step 11 — Reinstall the transmission. Step 12 — Verify smooth starter engagement and clutch operation. Kingstream OEM quality.
SYMPTOMS OF FLYWHEEL FAILURE: Clutch chatter or vibration during engagement, grinding noise during starting (worn ring gear teeth), clutch slipping even with a new clutch disc (worn or glazed flywheel friction surface), visible cracks, heat checking, or scoring on the flywheel face, excessive clutch pedal pulsation, and difficulty shifting gears from clutch drag.
