INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Remove the transmission and clutch assembly to access the flywheel. Step 2 — Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft by removing the flywheel bolts in a cross-pattern. Step 3 — Use a hammer and punch to drive the old ring gear off the flywheel — work evenly around the circumference. Step 4 — Clean the flywheel ring gear mounting surface with a wire brush. Step 5 — Heat the new ring gear evenly with a torch or oven to approximately 200-250°C (400-480°F) — the thermal expansion allows it to slip over the flywheel. Step 6 — Quickly position the heated ring gear onto the flywheel with the chamfered teeth facing the starter side. Step 7 — Allow the ring gear to cool and shrink onto the flywheel for a secure interference fit. Step 8 — Reinstall the flywheel onto the crankshaft with new bolts and thread locker, torquing in a cross-pattern. Step 9 — Reinstall the clutch and transmission.
