The generator charges the battery and powers the vehicle electrical system — converting mechanical energy from the engine crankshaft pulley into DC electrical power through a belt-driven rotor and stator assembly with an integrated voltage regulator. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Step 2 — Loosen the generator mounting bolts and pivot bolt. Step 3 — Remove the drive belt from the generator pulley. Step 4 — Disconnect the electrical connector and main output cable from the generator terminals. Step 5 — Remove the mounting bolts and lift out the old generator. Step 6 — Compare the new generator to verify identical mounting bracket dimensions, pulley alignment, and electrical connector type. Step 7 — Install the new generator on the mounting bracket with bolts hand-tightened. Step 8 — Install the drive belt and adjust belt tension by pivoting the generator — correct tension allows approximately 10mm belt deflection under moderate thumb pressure. Step 9 — Torque all mounting bolts. Step 10 — Reconnect the electrical connector and main cable. Step 11 — Reconnect battery and start the engine. Verify charging voltage at the battery terminals — should be 13.5-14.5V for 12V systems. 1-year warranty. Kingstream OEM.

SYMPTOMS OF GENERATOR FAILURE: Battery warning light illuminated on the instrument panel, dimming headlights and electrical accessories, battery requiring frequent jump starts or charging, abnormal whining or grinding noise from the generator bearings, burning smell from overheated windings or seized bearings, and measured charging voltage below 13V or above 15V at the battery.
