INSTALLATION PROCEDURE: Step 1 — Remove the transmission from the forklift and disassemble to access the synchronizer assembly on the main shaft or countershaft. Step 2 — Remove the snap rings, shift forks, and gears to access the synchronizer hub and sleeve assembly. Step 3 — Inspect the synchronizer cone surfaces on the gears for wear — worn cones will not synchronize properly even with a new synchronizer. Step 4 — Remove the old synchronizer hub and sleeve. Step 5 — Install the new synchronizer assembly with new synchronizer keys (struts) and springs. Verify the keys are properly seated in the hub slots. Step 6 — Install the shift sleeve onto the synchronizer hub — the sleeve should slide freely on the hub splines. Step 7 — Reinstall the synchronizer assembly onto the shaft with new snap rings.
