INSTALLATION: Step 1 — Remove the transmission from the forklift. Step 2 — Access and remove the torque converter mounting bolts from the engine flywheel through the starter mounting hole or access cover. Step 3 — Separate the converter from the flywheel. Step 4 — Drain the old converter of transmission fluid. Step 5 — Inspect the flywheel flex plate for cracks or warping — replace if damaged. Step 6 — Fill the new converter with the correct specification automatic transmission fluid before installation. Step 7 — Align the converter hub with the transmission input shaft and oil pump drive — the converter must seat fully with two distinct engagement clicks into the pump drive and input shaft splines. Step 8 — Measure the distance from the converter mounting pads to the transmission bell housing face — compare to the Tailift specification to verify full seating. Step 9 — Bolt the converter to the flywheel flex plate using new bolts with thread locking compound, torqued to specification. Step 10 — Reinstall the transmission. Step 11 — Fill transmission to correct fluid level, start the engine, cycle through all gear positions, check fluid level hot.
