The HB tilt cylinder is a double-acting hydraulic cylinder that controls mast forward and backward tilt on HB-series 2-3 ton diesel and LPG forklifts. Two HB tilt cylinders work in tandem — one on each side of the mast — with hydraulic pressure powering both the extend (tilt forward) and retract (tilt back) strokes. A leaking internal piston seal on one HB tilt cylinder causes that side to respond slower than the other, twisting the mast channels and accelerating wear on the carriage rollers, mast rail surfaces, and tilt cylinder mounting pins. A bent piston rod or scored cylinder bore demands immediate replacement — trying to straighten a bent rod or hone a scored bore on a hydraulic cylinder is never a lasting repair.
