Replacing all three as a set is always recommended — a new disc with a worn pressure plate will slip, while a new pressure plate with a worn release bearing will be noisy and may not disengage fully. When replacing a forklift clutch kit, always resurface or replace the flywheel — installing a new disc on a glazed or heat-checked flywheel reduces clutch life by more than half. Check the pilot bearing in the crankshaft and replace if worn. Use an alignment tool to center the disc before tightening the pressure plate bolts. Adjust the clutch pedal free play after installation to ensure the release bearing is not preloaded against the pressure plate fingers.
