CBQ SERIES GEAR PUMP FEATURES: The CBQ-F550 series is a heavy-duty external gear pump designed for continuous operation in industrial forklift hydraulic systems. The F550 designation indicates the specific displacement and mounting configuration within the CBQ family. External gear pumps use two meshing gears — one drive gear connected to the engine PTO and one idler gear — to create hydraulic flow through the meshing/unmeshing cycle. Oil is drawn into the pump on the inlet side as gear teeth separate, carried around the housing in tooth spaces, and discharged under pressure on the outlet side as teeth re-mesh. INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE: Drain the hydraulic reservoir. Disconnect the pump inlet and outlet hoses. Unbolt the pump from its mounting bracket or PTO adapter. Install the new pump with a new mounting O-ring — the seal between the pump and the reservoir intake line is critical; any air leak on the intake side causes cavitation that destroys the pump. Reconnect hoses with new sealing washers. Prime the pump by filling the inlet port with clean hydraulic oil before starting — dry starting a gear pump for even a few seconds causes permanent scoring of the gear faces and housing. Start the engine at low idle, verify pump output pressure on a pressure gauge, and check all connections for leaks.
