On 30HB forklifts, the hub cap is typically secured with 3 or 4 bolts around the perimeter; torque them in a star pattern to 10-15 Nm to avoid warping the stamped iron cap. Over-tightening deforms the cap edge and breaks the seal, defeating the purpose of the dust cover. After installation, check for gaps between the cap and hub face by running a feeler gauge around the perimeter — any gap larger than 0.2mm will admit dust. Common failure signs include grease seepage around the cap edge, a rattling noise from loose mounting bolts, and visible rust staining on the hub face where water has penetrated past the cover.
