HOW SPEED LIMIT VALVES WORK: The XSF-F16L is mounted directly on the lift cylinder or in the hydraulic line to the cylinder. During normal lifting, hydraulic oil flows freely through the valve into the cylinder. During lowering, the valve meters the return flow through a precisely calibrated orifice, limiting the descent speed regardless of the load weight. In the event of a sudden pressure loss — such as a burst hose or disconnected fitting — the valve senses the rapid pressure drop and closes immediately, trapping oil in the cylinder and holding the load in position. INSTALLATION: Step 1 — Lower forks completely and relieve hydraulic pressure. Step 2 — Disconnect the hydraulic hose from the lift cylinder port. Step 3 — Install the speed limit valve directly on the cylinder port using the correct thread adapter and sealing washer. Step 4 — Reconnect the hydraulic hose to the valve inlet port. Step 5 — Bleed air by cycling the lift function 3-5 times. Step 6 — Test the safety function: lift the forks partially, then carefully crack open a test port to verify the valve holds the load when pressure drops.
